100 Year War.

Very Moving

paintedwords

Through the interstices of life
Is woven some strife
Unlike the fallen
Whom came as they deemed their calling
To fight a war to end all wars

Remembrance of the dead
100 years since their bodies were shred
A lesson have we learnt?
Never! Still we send soldiers to be burnt.
In a war to end all wars.

Poets spoke, of horrors seen
Of dead eyes that no longer gleam.
Through mud and dirt that boil
Soldiers of boys toil.
We send to a war to end all wars.

Politicians only smile
As broken bodies trudge another mile
Open shell hole graves
Shell shocked minds, vent words through mouths that rave,
about a war to end all wars.

Tolkien, Jones, Sassoon and Graves
Scribe moments of death, men in graves
Save a few that return
Write but we do not learn
And engage in a war to end all wars.

If The Facts Don’t Fit The Theory, Change The Facts

Interesting view.

Real Science

Einstein joked :

If the facts don’t fit the theory, change the facts.

He was mocking fake scientists who tamper with data, like the ones in the US government which create fake temperature graphs.

The White House is engaged in a big push to create an imaginary “climate legacy” for the narcissistic in chief. Actual temperatures provide no support for the agenda, so NCDC simply makes up fake data. They show US temperatures for October as 4th warmest since 1895

ScreenHunter_4787 Nov. 23 10.36

Their own thermometer data shows nothing of the sort. October temperatures in the US haven’t warmed since 1895, and this past October was unremarkable.  The animation below alternates between NCDC measured and reported temperatures. Note how they bumped October 2014 up a full degree.

NCDCvsHCNOctober

Do they actually believe that all of their observers were reading temperatures a degree too low in October 2014? That isn’t even remotely credible. Te next graph…

This Weeks Update

Heres what I have been up to this week.

I have been out on the mountain bike twice, both on the Orange Five.

Both of my rides were at Llandegla this week and both were on the red trail, Wednesday’s ride was a night ride so the lights were on. My lights are http://use1.com/exposure-lights and I find them to be fantastic, I have one on the handlebar and one on the helmet, this provides good lighting especially as the forest is pitch black at night. The handlebar light is sufficient but when going around berms, over jumps etc it is handy to be able to see around the corner rather than just where the bars are pointing.

I absolutely love night mountain biking and if you havn’t done it I couldnt recommend it more, it turns an area you know into a total different animal, granted the risks are a little higher as it is much harder but thats all part of the fun. This week I had a pretty nice crash which resulted in me falling down a bank, luckily no major damage to me or the bike, only a bruised hip, knee and cut elbow.

I rode Friday again at Llandegla with a friend from work who has hardly ever ridden a bike but he really enjoyed it, thats one of the major things I love about mountain biking that anyone can come along regardless of ability and find it enjoyable.

So as a summary for the week I got soaked twice and the temperature was around 3 degrees celsius both rides, so lovely and warm 😉

I rode around 20 miles

Climbed around 2000ft.

I also lost another 0.4kg, so my weight is now 103.8kg

A bit more about me – My Hobbies

A Mountain Biker | Diary of my mountain biking rides and other random stuff.//

So as the title suggests this post will be about my none cycling hobbies, a chance maybe for you to get to know me a little better.

So other than cycling (mountain biking) I suppose I have a few hobbies (Listed in order of importance to me):

  • Gaming – As in PC and Playstation.
  • Share/stock dealing
  • Golf

So to add a little more detail:

Gaming – This is where the nerd in me really comes to life, I love all things gaming. I used to be a hardcore PC gamer playing the massively multiplayer online role playing game (MMORPG) World of Warcraft for roughly 8 years. Now as sad as this sounds if I wasn’t in work I used to play this game for about 16 hours a day, and on work days this would be as much as 6 – 8 hours a day. Now I know that sounds obsessive and possibly could be called an addict, but I never saw it that way and still don’t to be honest, I was simply playing online with my friends, we were communicating through skype or other programs so although in reality it looked like I was stuck in my room alone, this wasn’t really the case. The aim of the game was to beat the end game content in regularly brought out by blizzard usually in teams of 5, 10 or 25. Now a lot of people have told me that I was sad doing this, some of whom spend upwards of 5 hours a night watching soaps and sitcoms on the TV (something which I have never done). Now I don’t judge people for that I just don’t think people should judge what I waste my spare time doing. Anyway with the birth of mini-me that lifestyle had to change and I don’t even own a gaming PC anymore.

I do however own a playstation, and today I bought a PS4 along with grand theft auto, 2 motorbike games, watch dogs and Assasings creed. I plan on spending a fair bit of my spare winter time enjoying these for a couple of reasons, in winter I find it a good time to lower my riding amount and do other things, this keeps my interest levels a lot higher for summer besides its chilly up here and it rains a lot, I don’t really enjoy going out every day in 0 – 5 degrees celsius to get soaking.

Share Dealing

I really enjoy share dealing, I tend to have a lot of time off in the week as I work a continental shift pattern meaning I work 2 days, 2 nights then have either 4 or 6 days off depending on the time of year. This leaves me with a lot of time to do other things, and I enjoy share dealing, this is not the worth things to do I suppose and again some people think I am sad / geeky / nerdy well yes I am. I will literally spend hours trawling through companies to find a stock I like and then I will invest some money in it, I am by no means the wolf of wall street but I suppose it is better than wasting / investing my money in horse racing 😉. I don’t know I probably have the gambling addict gene in me (have never properly gambled but always been interested) but this is a way I can control it without really taking on too much risk.

Golf

My final major hobby is one which I cannot actually do at the moment, I am waiting on a cartilage operation on my knee. But yes I enjoy playing golf and have played since I was about 10, I have represented my club as junior captain (in 2007) and won quite a lot of trophies, I don’t play seriously any more due to time constraints mainly imposed by cycling. My handicap is 8.

Skiing

Andorra Skiing March 2012 (8)

Andorra Skiing March 2012 (1)

I have been skiing twice away (both times to Andorra, a small principality between France and Spain) and also had lessons, Skiing is absolutely awesome, I cannot wait to go again, I am hoping to make it to Whistler in 2016.

Hiking

Snowdon 02-08-08 (14) Snowdon 02-08-08 (13) Snowdon 02-08-08 (11) Snowdon 02-08-08 (10)

I live in one of the nicest areas of the world (in my opinion) so it would be rude not to get out into it.

So there it is a little bit more about me, myself and I.
